PROJECT TEAM
Paul Westermann
Interactive Resources, Inc. provided structural engineering services to Borrego Solar for new solar arrays at the Vista Irrigation District’s Headquarters in Vista, California. The solar system is designed to generate 400,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually, enough to meet about 60 percent of the power needs of the district’s headquarters.
The District provides water to much of northern San Diego County. Design services included reviewing the available “as-built” drawings and performing an evaluation of the existing framing to determine if the structure could support the solar array. Structural calculations were prepared to evaluate the framing to support the proposed dead loads.
In addition, construction documents were prepared for the attachment/support of the array to the existing roofs, and construction documents and structural calculations were also prepared for the anchorage of the inverter and the inverter pad.
