LOCATION
San Francisco, California

Interactive Resources, Inc. provided structural engineering services for the 500 kW solar array at Terminal 3 of San Francisco International Airport. By addressing both generation and consumption, the airport was able to combine the short term payback of energy efficiency upgrades with the long term need for renewable, locally generated electricity. This solar array on the roof of Terminal 3 is part of a City of San Francisco’s green initiative. Working with our client, Bass Electric, Interactive Resources, Inc. prepared structural calculations to verify that the existing structure framing could support the proposed array. Structural calculations were also provided for the anchorage of the array(s) to the existing framing and locations and details of the anchorage requirements, in addition to responding to plan review comments by the Airport Commission.
