Founded in 1974, the Early Childhood Mental Health Program (ECMHP) in Richmond, California offers a comprehensive therapeutic nursery program, child and family therapy, parental support groups, and other services to at-risk children and their families. In 2015, the ECMHP staff and Board of Directors selected Interactive Resources, Inc. to undertake a significant tenant improvement project at their outdated facilities. Working closely with ECMHP’s onsite staff of licensed social workers, family therapists, psychologists and preschool teachers, we were able to identify and execute architectural design and structural engineering improvements to facilitate their specific and sensitive program needs, while staying within the non-profit organization’s strict budgetary limitation.
This project included a complete remodel of the 13,000 sq. ft. space that accommodates an assortment of offices, meeting rooms, classroom, kitchen and various other support spaces. Existing restrooms were also renovated, and an outdoor parking lot was converted to accommodate an outdoor play area. The design is modern, functional, warm and inviting atmosphere for the ECMHP clients and staff.
