The Ray Miller Community Center, including the Dance Studio, is a single-story structure, located on East School Street in the City of Cotati, California. It was originally constructed as a public school in 1958. The existing roofing was a low-slope, built-up bituminous type, with a mineral surface cap sheet to which an elastomeric coting was applied in 2006 in order to extend its service life. The southeast quadrant of the roof is covered by a photovoltaic array installed c. 2002-4.
The city chose the option for the standing seam metal roof that offered the longest potential service life — up to 50 years. In addition, a future PV (Photovoltaic) mounting system can be attached directly to the standing seams with no penetration of the roofing system.
