International Conference of Building Officials
For the first time, the International Conference of Building Official (ICBO) is offering to the non-building official members of ICBO the opinion service that heretofore has been available only to member building officials of public agencies. ICBO now offers three unique options.
New Code Opinions on CD-ROM
The Code Consultant. The Code Consultant places over 2,000 code opinion letters dating from 1988 to present at your fingertips and includes search capabilities which allow the user instant access to specific code sections or topics. Code opinions are taken directly from ICBO’s archive of letters, and address almost every subject covered by the Uniform Codes (excluding the UFC). The Code Consultant provides a comprehensive analysis of the intent of the code sections based on hundreds of years of cumulative code experience by a professionally trained staff of code professionals. This new CD-ROM product provides the user, with his or her own panel of code experts. The Code Consultant list is listed at $189.00 for ICBO Members and $245.00 for Nonmembers. Phone Code Opinion Service with CD-ROM (Subscription Based)
ICBO now offers a new Code Opinion Service which provides subscribers access to phone interpretations as well as a complimentary copy of the new The Code Consultant CD-ROM. For an annual subscription fee, members (except jurisdictional and governmental members) and nonmembers of ICBO, seeking information regarding the Uniform and International Codes, including project-specific information, will have access to ICBO’s trained staff of engineers and architects. This new program is an excellent resource for engineers, architects and designers who need answers to those tough code questions.
As in the past, ICBO will continue its time honored tradition of providing its jurisdictional and governmental members with unlimited access to its code opinion service at no added cost. A written code opinion policy is also available on an hourly rate and is described below. Written Code Opinion Service (Hourly Fee)
An hourly, fee based Code Opinion Service is also available as an alternative to the subscription based service. This program allows the design professional and other nonjurisdictional representatives access to a combination of written or phone code opinions at an hourly rate of $125.00. This service is designed to facilitate the needs of those with infrequent code questions. As in the past, ICBO will continue its time honored tradition of providing its jurisdictional and governmental members with unlimited access to its code opinion service at no added cost.
